Just to follow from this I was lucky to be able to give this baby a spin in between our day's tour and dinner. A tradition of tyre kicking combined with sampling the delights of German beer from Heini's & Werner's boots developed each day after touring and sight seeing....very civilised!!  Grin At one of these events Heini chucked me the keys and I took her for a short test drive.

She really is a sleeper. Engine, gearbox, back axle and suspension lifted directly from a 131 Racing and transplanted here. Lovely engine area detailing with polished cam covers and treated throttle cable linkages along with fresh new stickers really lift the engine bay. Skinny tyres and 1300 badges give nothing away.

On the road she had loads of lovely torque and feels much more planted than a standard 4 door. Simon also took her for a spin and feel instantly in love. I'll try to add more pics although I'm having trouble with Photobucket at the moment.  Huh

Beautiful sleeper! My favourite style of tuning/ upgrading. That probably was a surprise not only for 3ma participants, but motorists being overtaken :-)
